Years later I have found my voice. I speak now for many that have been silenced when I say,
NO More
here and no farther
the cost has been too great
and the punishment too light
I fret not for the damned,
it is those who survive that concern me
like zombies we walk
feelings? do we have them?
Today I demand to be heard
sonorous bass reverberating from every corner of the room
"Quiet, and let the child speak"
for when I open my mouth he whispers
He speaks of lost opportunities,
he speaks of innocence lost
he speaks of the pain and the hate
he cries
I have learned to let him speak
lest his shame and guilt overcome me.
Lest his sorrow permeate all that is...
We will cry today, so smiling can still be possible.....
