This is an incredibly powerful read for those of us estranged from our fathers. Two world stood apart, one contentious, physically abused and oppressed, the other stoic and ignorant until the son took an across country trip and surprised his father in confrontation.

Eight hours they talked while around them, the writer masterfully weaved his past, the reactions of his family and into the future.

I encourage you who have difficulty relating to your father to read this, those of you who speak shallow, who speak volumes and those who cannot speak to their fathers. The healing of this book continues to teach me weeks after reading it.
