I set her straight. Nicely and clearly, and in the end she agreed that she had misspoken.

I didn't tell her that despite her apology, I still think she's an idiot for saying something that dumb in the first place.

People seem to forget that no matter how worthy their own causes, exaggerating the issue like that is demeaning for people to whom child abuse is not just an abstract term.
