Judge Cleland has set an evidentiary hearing in the Sandusky case on the defendant's motion for a new trial -- based upon not having enough time to adequately prepare a defense. The hearing is scheduled for January 10th at 9:30 a.m. It is expected to take about two hours. The hearing was granted at the request of the defense.

Thanks...An evidentiary hearing is a little strange on a motion for a new trial. However, it appears that Judge Cleland is trying to protect the trial record for appeal purposes. The defense asked for the hearing so Judge Cleland granted it. No one should construe anything from the Judge's granting of the hearing.

What's the deal with Spanier's motion to modify his bail? Do we know a timeline on that?

Not sure when the judge might issue an order. I will try to find out...Here, however, is the State's reply memorandum to Spanier's motion to modify bail...
