Since I've been doing play-by-play (man, what a resource this thread is gonna be for anyone who gets shingles):
Started the acyclovir prophylatic. Big news is finally tried the Gabapentin (anti-convulsant) to address the neuropathy. Ah, they say to take it only at bedtime. Reason being, apparently, is that it knocked me out for 8 hours. Not sure yet if I feel funny, but the best sleep I've had in almost two months.
Some skin sensitivity is still there - I only did the my first dose last nite - but the pricking feeling in the arch went away for 12 hours and I didn't have that perpetual drive-me-outta-my-mind background pain during that time.
Sorry 'bout the needles, guys. But I DID put a trigger warning on it! ("oh look, Lancer put up a video and..." <klunk>)
Thanks for the giggle Pero. Actually doing relatively okay. My head feels like it's wrapped in lead - no hurt, just heavy - which is really weird.
"You Poor Thing" always gives me a laff. Same line my former [musclebound] doc used for my first shingles case. Always liked the irony.
As for the roof, I have lovely barrel tiles! But - ever helpful Pero - you just gave me an alternative to using chlorine to do the slab areas. Golly, don't have to kill the grass. Wow. Shingles and home maintenance tips on MS? Amazing.
I'm gonna try the Gaba again tonite, but I don't like the way it made me feel today. Come to find out a typical side effect is blurred vision, which is the LAST damn thing I need in my business. I'll go back to the codiene. At least I know what to expect.
