ETA

When I was a kid
and we’d go on a trip,
I remember the anticipation
vying with the tedium:
excited expectation
to get there,
the goal of arrival –
against the endless,
tiring sameness
of going on and on and on…

So now I ask:
Are we almost there yet?
And how will I know
when I get there?
What will it look like?
Will I know when I have made it?
Can I look forward to stopping someday?
Or is it a journey
without an end,
a trip with no destination
and no estimated time of arrival?

I wish that we know when arrives that moment. Unfortunately it seems like journey without end, ETA magically disappears from horizon when we need it the most wink
