In this area we've seen lots of terrible pictures of the aftermath Sandy. Was "Sandy" an appropriate name? Some of the news footage showed tons of ocean-bottom sand deposited in entire neighborhoods.

I'm thinking of getting an uninteruptable power supply. A year and a half ago an entire town (Ringgold - not of Wagnerian fame, also not referring to the Ring series ) was swept from the earth.

After Sandy made landfall, the prediction was that she would hand a hard right and move across Northern New England. Didn't happen, so we stayed on the edge of the storm. Lots of downed trees, and about half the state was without power for 24+ hours, but buildings are still standing, and the rivers stayed in their banks. Sorry for those who took the brunt of it. I have a son in NYC and a daughter in Virginia who we worried about but their fine.
