I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this in their search for answers. This social worker apparently "discovered" a mechanism that enables the body to release trauma. His theory is that animals shake themselves of their anxiety and adrenaline after a flee/fight/freeze episode. As a result, most animals don't have to deal with PTSD (except, for maybe abused and confined animals).
I've ordered the DVD which is supposed to go over the exercises. I briefly tried them a couple years ago, but gave up on them. Was smoking too much pot.
I'm going to dedicate myself to doing these for the next 30 days.
TRE builds on Peter Levine's (Waking The Tiger) good work and discovery about the nervous system and how it handles traumatic episodes.
I'm also looking for a good somatic experiencing therapist in San Francisco.
Anyways, thought I'd share and ask if anyone else has any experience working these modalities for PTSD / trauma.
