I think, lee, that tomorrow's release searchable by name will be more definitive. I debated even posting this link, but it's a start and as c_r mentioned, the map is pretty damning.

I didn't see anything that matches Puffer's history, but I'm encouraged that it goes back to 1949.

1949 should catch it. I was in 1951. I can examine the data by year presumably and if it's there it should show up. Even if I have remembered the name wrong, it should show up. My fear is that since the abuser was such a big wheel that he may have evaded either being caught or being reported. Apparently he had endeared himself with the local Boy Scout authorities and whatever he did might have been with their acquiescence or permission. I say this on the basis that the young doctor in the camp was examining each of the boys naked while the men I presume to be the heads of the camp watched. Also, that doctor not only failed to help me but it seems likely that he reported to the abuser what I said to him making things worse for me. In fact he may have been complicent int what happened. Also I will be interested if there are repetitious actions, indicating serial abuse in the same area.

I just looked at it. I found a "hit" in the correct search area (Alexandria VA). This was in 1960. Unit 9 ID 2564.(Whatever that means). 1960 is of course not 1951 (1951 is the hear I was abused and tortured in the Boy Scout camp). I didn't see how to identify these by name. If my guess is right that he was a serial abuser then he might have been ensnared at other dates than 1951.

I found another one in Vienna VA, the community he lived in. But it was in 1992, name 3140, ID 979

I think it must also be considered that there was a whole Boy Scout troop in the community where my family lived. It was Troop 123. The leader was a predatory pedophile. His initials were BW. I believe that he is not even listed in this database. This indicates that there are many shortcomings in it.

Just heard the LA Times reporter being interviewed on NPR spouting the same old garbage about abuse victims becoming abusers themselves. Even in the silver lining there's a cloud.
