yesterday i was at a store and saw something that took me back to my childhood - those candies shaped like orange slices that are like gumdrop jelly covered with sugar. on an impulse i bought a package. i rarely do anything like that - just see something i want and buy it. i'm more likely to tell myself that i don't need it or not to waste the money or it is silly - or somehow talk myself out of it. this time i just did it. and as i was enjoying them i realized i was doing it for my inner child - and he was smiling. it didn't cost much and - darn it - i'm worth it!

so - let me encourage you - what could you do for your inner child today? try to make him happy for a change.

Lee,

You made me smile today. What great insight into what we can do to fullfill that most basic need to appease ourselves (our inner child). I will make that effort today. Thanks for the idea.

I'm making some hot chocolate right now actually-- homemade and everything. I don't have marshmallows but ehh, it still makes me happy.

I cry a lot when I come here. This time it's nice to have a happy reason.

I have found that eating a 1/2 chunk of Baker's chocolate (no sugar) cheers me up. It supposedly is good for my health, too.

Thanks for this Lee. It was not only "good-to-read," but encouraging as well. I am only now finding real ways to reach the boy I was. This is one more tangible way.
