Sad.

The risk goes with sex work though, no way around it.

I think the obsession with "bareback" i.e. no-condom porn certainly has something to do with it. The risks involved can be greatly lessened if and when this type of porn is made illegal.

Condoms reduce the risk of some things, although te be really effective they have to be the thick kind like the military hands out - not the thin ones hawked at walmart. Thin condoms have pores large enough for a virus to slip through, although they will stop bacteria. HPV, Herpes, Staph infections (like MRSA) and such will still be transfered just from the sweaty contact of other body parts.

I think if bareback porn were made entirely illegal then the profit margine on it would go up and production would move overseas (at least until fifteen years from now, by which time home equipment will be equal to todays professional video equipment and young couples will likely flood the internet with free exhibitionism).

Ideally it would be an international ban, but I think starting with one country at a time would be just fine too. Workers deserve to be protected, regardless of the industry. Most porn is already done in places like eastern europe where there are a lot young, destitute people that can be cheaply exploited because of the poor economic situation. Those governments need to step up to protect them as well. Laws can and do work, and some people are capable of moving on from their feeling of entitlement to get off on seeing someone else have unprotected sex.
