I just wanted to share a beautiful and inspiring video with you guys.
Made me cry... Ehm. I mean there's something in my eye.
The song is by Cage The Elephant.

But It makes me want to enjoy my life the best I can.
Life is to darn short to walk around staring at the ground.

Try being 52-yo and watching that video! THEN you get something in yer eye!

I'm glad you see it the way you do King. It IS a short walk. Even if you are aware of it as you walk, some day you get to a point where you realize there's too much trail behind you.

Thank you for sharing this!

No Problem Robbie!
There is something so deeply moving about this piece.
I can't put my finger on it exactly but for me it has to do with accepting life and death for what it is.
It's so easy to get caught up in the bad past but despite our abuse, we've all experienced something to be a bit nostalgic about no matter how small. That's life man.
Even if you've been through hell, its still beautiful.

The freaky thing is, lately, I've been telling my kids about my underground fort I had with a bunch of friends. We pass-by it every time we go through my home town on the interstate. They want to go see it. That will happen right after the sun rises in the west.

But I've been imagining that very scene in the video. To see that footage really devastated me. Don't worry, I have daily devastations.

I DO know I left radio in the fort. I also strongly suspect no one has been in there since back then, as the fort was fully obscured.

About 100yds away from the fort was an abandoned, stolen 50-something Corvette. To this day, I don't think anyone ever bothered to tell the police about it. It was there long before I was born. For years and years it was used as a target for hurled bottles, .22 rifles, cherry-bombs...everything.

Anyway, I'm trying to get up the nerve to look at the area on Google-earth. I look at the old hood on Google sometimes when I feel like I can change the past. Its never a good idea....NEVER.

Wow man. I can see how that would be devastating.
I can also understand reluctance to visit the hangout. Unless there are good memories.
I never had a hangout like that really but that part made me think of the good times of my childhood (there were some).

The part that got me was at the end when he sees everyone he's known in his life and his wife steps forward. There was so much love in her eyes. It's like they were all saying "we love you man. You're safe and we're here for you in the end. Keep your eyes fixed on the sun."

Now I've never shot a Corvette with a .22 but that sounds like a lot of fun!

The supportive and loving wife hurt life fk too. Not whining here, just saying, this is an immensely emotional video for me. But no...no supportive anyone. Its why I think I'm a really good candidate to live at The Salton Sea.

As for the other thing....Yes, Shooting perfectly good, slightly crashed, Corvettes IS fun. The poor thang saw all phases of my field shooting: my browning .22 bolt action, my precious Browning .22 lever action that I saved up for a year to buy (age 11), and then eventually the Ruger 10-22. It was extra fun when mega wasp nests would form. it was really strange though. It seemed that no matter how far back we shot-up the vette-nests from, the wasps always figured out where the shots were coming from...I'd always get hit in the neck with a nasty sting.

Oh...and I learned to never shoot at fully inflated tires with a .22. They too find their way to the shooter.

I remember my best friend Mark's aunt brought us for a walk out there when we were all about 5-yo (if that). The vette was there then and looked sorta normal.

I really wish I could try looking for it from google.

EDIT: Henry. Is it possible to sneak into the aircraft graveyard near you without "having government issues?" There are some parts and systems I need to salvage.

Oh man. Sneaking into that graveyard sounds like fun but I might come under fire from more than 22's.
More like 5.56's.

I know what you mean about the supportive wife.
As cliche' as it sounds, it's never too late.
Sometimes I see people at my Deli Counter in their 70's flirting.
*facepalm* meanwhile, I'm like, "um excuse me can I help you?!" Lol. Get a room and get the hell away from my deli case, lol.

Lol. Yes. We will belly crawl at night and commandeer an F22.
I'm not sure if they have those yet but one can hope.
