I was ok

I have no physical bond with anyone
  no emotional bond
     no connections to get fouled up
  or dropped

then I saw the magazine cover
  two guys so happy
     so much in love
in each other’s arms
  their eyes said it all

and for the first time
    I can put a name
  to my sadness

it goes further than loneliness
     or emptiness

to a place that
        I don’t know if there is a word
to explain
  or describe
what is here
     or isn’t

but something snapped
        broke free
  deep inside
and now I feel a longing
     unlike any I’ve felt before

and also
     for the first time
I worry
  about what might happen
           if I don’t find an answer
