Hello. I never really know what to say. I just found this site and was very happy too. I have been reading stories and watching videos. Where should I start? I grew up with a reckless alcoholic. The stress of that has been with me for a long time now. I am now 47. I can see how it has affected my life. Lots of emotional abuse some physical not sexual. That was until I went to a so called counselor who could "help me" I thought he was going to tell me why I didnt feel good about myself or what was wrong with me. He said I should have sex with him it would help me. It didnt I just held it in for years. That mixed with the alcohol background. I never really felt good about myself and still dont today. Always felt like I did something wrong. Well thanks for listening.

Hmn... we're sort of like anorexics in a way. They need food to be healthy but they fear food and they suffer because of it. Many of us need therapy but we fear it because of what's been done to us by other so-called mental health professionals. Welcome.

Well I hope that the therapist gets his name struck of the role, sick bastard. I know you feel like it was your fault, but there is no way that you are guilty, a child cant invite this sort of unhappiness into their lives, so what could you have done to ask for this.
Write a lot and ask a lot of questions and you will see that you are an innocent victim.

I am glad you have found this place of healing and support.

I am sorry you were betrayed by the professional who was supposed to help you. You may want to consider reporting that person to the ethics committee. The behavior of that "professional" was more than unethical, it was extremely harmful.

Take your time and look around. You do not want to trigger yourself by reading too many posts at one time.

At your own pace, read the boards and wander into chat. The lounge (chat) is open 24 hours a day though it isn't always populated.

We also have moderated chats called Healing Circles. They meet on Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 9pm eastern time and one on Tuesday at 19:00 UTC (European and African time zone) which translates to 2 PM Eastern US time zone. The Healing Circle on Tuesdays is scheduled to resume in September.
