Before the show, I wrote a brief note to him, thanking him for sharing his own personal story in a March 2000 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, for it was the first time someone else I knew disclosed their story, and healing journey, that it gave me hope that I could find peace.

I gave the note to a security guard who said he would personally give it to Carlos. How cool. Wow, I thought, my message would make it to him.
