It's kinda sad, it's not unusual to see teens in our pyschiatric emergency room in the hospital where I work. Right now there are even 2 9 y/o in the psych unit and we had a 12 yr old in last night for a poss drug overdose. Makes me wonder what kind of secrets they are keeping.

It does.... I teach in a K-5 building here in NY. The stories that these kids have and the abuse that they have suffered is unbelievable! And those are the ones that we know about! It amazes me that these kids can come to school and function as well as they do. As the wife of a survivor I am SO thankful that these kids are getting help at an early age. I fear for the ones that we don't know about and the ones that exhibit signs of trauma but won't talk.

just the tip of the iceberg...

think of all of the kids that never make it to the hospital because - either no one notices the signs - or they notice, but do nothing...
