The independent investigation of Penn State has been concluded by former FBI Director Louis Freeh. According to numerous news sources, it is to be released Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with a press conference to follow at 10 a.m. Pundits are speculating that the report will be devastating to Penn State and set the stage for long and costly legal battles. It supposedly contains information about the alleged cover-up and the lack of reporting of Sandusky's behaviors.

It will be interesting to see if Penn St. steps up and settles the civil cases or drags this out...The report could be devastating to Penn State's legal position.

The local media reported a couple of days after the Sandusky verdict, that Penn State announced a victims' program, and that it wanted to work with victims to settle their claims.

Oh what a load of horse shit. This is so transparent, the family's damage control from beyond the grave. They can have a pity party and claim smear campaign but the facts will speak for themselves. What sad and pathetic people. You know, I'd rather be all f*&%ed up like me than all F%^&ed like them.

Gregg Doyel was so right:

"Paterno's statue outside Beaver Stadium has to come down, because otherwise Penn State would be celebrating a man who helped talk school officials into leaving Jerry Sandusky alone in 2001, letting an alleged pedophile escape detection for another decade, giving that alleged pedophile -- and it's not "alleged" anymore -- unfettered access to campus for another decade"

my thoughts exactly when I read it--so self serving. Denial of abusing someone or denial of turning away from someone being abused equal the same--coward and lacking of character.

yup, according to what i read on the freeh report, paterno knew since 98.... the family is trying to protect the image... but perhaps there is a chance that joe never told his family and they are just in the dark as the rest of us, however doing like a family would and protect their own.. can't blame them for that even though it's obvious now that the 4 head guys at psu knew since 98 and pretty much did nothing... *shakes head*... awful...

just read the summary--so sad for all those boys because so many turned away and tried to protect the institution and their own place in the institution. how many boys could have been spared?

The tragedy is only compounded by the fact that failing to report suspicion of abuse to the authorities is only a misdemeanor in Pennsylvania!
