Thank you for posting this video. The gentleman is absolutely right that victims should not be discredited for possibly seeking financial restitution. Sandusky purposely hurt the boys in a serious way and it appears Penn State covered it up -- did not report to police the abuse on Penn State property -- and thus the victims should be entitled to request or sue for damages. I particularly like where he says that just because the victims may take legal action that does not negate the truth of what the victims are saying.

Keep up the fight.

Although I think the survivors should be entitled to recompense as we spend millions on therapy through the course of our lives, Well in Dollars that's many thousands.

The jurors are just Regular Folks, so they were probably as disgusted as the rest of us, to hear Amendola accuse each witness of trying to get rich by accusing Jerry. That might work, if there were only 1 or 2 accusing witnesses and if the allegations didn't span more than a decade... and if there was ANY evidence of a profiteering motive. There's just Amendola's accusation.

Screw Sandusky and those who covered up his atrocities! Can I have a quick show of hands? Who here feels not only their lives, but their livelihood was adversely affected by the abuse? Restitution can buy a lot of therapy and alleviate at least some of the suffering. Time is money and this man stole thousands of years during his lifetime as an abuser.

they know that it goes back to at least '98 due to evidence of an email that spanier sent to curley and shultz saying that he thought it would be "humane" to NOT turn over the records they have of accusations of sandusky's actions to authorities.

there's also been talk that apparently that snadusky's lawyer has found the guy that was supposedly in the shower with sandusky when mcqueary (spelling?) caught sandusky...not sure how true that is and if he has the right guy and so on.

my question is, though, that if this guy is a witness that will testify, doesn't the prosecution have the right to talk to this witness first so that they can prepare their case?

The sad truth is that In the USA You get as much justice as you can aford. But I do not think that Sandusky will get away scott free.

everyone hanging in there???

tough stuff happening with this case, but i hope these observations reflect some goodness for a change.

i've been monitoring comments and posting remarks as best i can on wsj, nydn, and nytimes. the good news, at least in my view, overwhelming majority of folks seem to finally ''get it.'' but there are still a handful who do not, primarily at the wsj. i have not seen any comment belittling the victims' experiences, which is a vast improvement from how public comment was with the priests abuse cases sometime back.

two main issues that puzzle me still, from that 10% or so who do not understand the issues, their belief that these incidents are isolated and therefore no real repercussions on society as a whole. (i guess we define that as -- sexual abuse only happens to ''someone else'' or to bad kids or to kids without good parents etc.) second issue, although more marginally so, that jerry is really gay, which is why he molested boys -- very longstanding myth.

wishing you all power, strength an resolve! smile

yes, it seems the only ones belittling the victims are sandusky's defense attorneys (accusing them of only wanting money).

I hope that the results in this case will help many more abusers to be discovered. There must be hundreds of serial abusers like him out there. Maybe the resolution of this case will cause more victims to step forward with their stories.

yeah - my first reaction was of elation - but followed soon after by an overwhelming wave of grief and tears.

OK now - but it is an emotional time - some sense of vicarious vindication - but a lot of regret and like chase eric says - envy for the personal freedom and justice that the guys in the trial achieved.

time for solidarity, guys.
we got each other!

This trial has really been screwing with me lately. I was working at a computer shop until yesterday and every time I'd go to working on a computer their homepage would be MSN or yahoo, and I listen to talk radio a lot.

Everywhere I turn I see boys and girls being raped and I just don't know how to deal with the information. I can't get away from it but every time I see a headline with 'Sandusky' or 'Texas man beat to death' I feel ill and just want to go cry and vomit at the same time.

He can appeal all he wants, there's no jury or judge who'll set him free, at least I hope so.

Why is child rape not a capital crime?!?!

Dar - thanks for the whole list.

My biggest concern was that one of the victims would be left out in the cold. thank God that all of them got some vindication! can you imagine how it would feel to have everyone else be believed but your story discounted? i am so relieved.

I actually don't follow many such trials, and didn't think one either although I had read many articles, etc. pre-trial phase. I don't follow trials right now because I am too easily triggered, and damn but I made a mistake with this one.

I usually read news through UK sources or Germany, as I am in Germany, and one day I decided to access a US based site as I saw a headlight about the Sandusky trials. My mistake so totally, but decided to read the article...or try to, and got about half way when the graphic nature of the reporting sent me back to my abused days. It took me over a week to be "normal" again, and I'm just coming out of it. That's partially why I've been off the boards for so long. Had some hard times lately.

My point in stating this in agreement with some comments here, was that the reporting often had the testimony sensationalized just for what seemed the titillation of the crowds. Sure, the graphic nature of it would perhaps (or should) have a way to truly disgust readers into the enormity of the crimes Sandusky committed, but to me it seemed to somehow cause those for whom it was beyond agony to have to speak of such things in front of dozens of people, into just caricatures.

Sure, you can think of the scene, the act, the pain, the blood or whatever, but what just putting up a couple of lines like that doesn't show is how it has affected the person afterwards. How it touches everything for them. Its a trial about Sandusky, but for these ones, they will always be in trial in some ways for the rest of their lives, whether its answering questions in themselves or what others may challenge them about.

My small portion of a rant, but it is really a personal problem I have with reactions. Before in the pre-trial stages, I came across articles, comments and reminiscenes even on sports pages about how Sandusky had helped the college community, and thought they hated what happened, the people of the town just hoped it would all be over soon so they could get back to their lives....See where I'm going with this?

I was outraged and posted a number of replies to such ones totally incredulous at their self-centred view: so "the community" could get on with it, get on with their lives. They didn't even have a word of sympathy for the victims or what they had happen and will continue to have to live with every day of their lives. Other who view trials like this lament the wrongs of the world, and too often put it down to a few "bad apples" when the practice is rampant even additionally because of those who look the other way, like the guy who saw some of the acts and heard complaints but didn't contact police. The victims, no survivors, get dismissed.

I went on ranting again. It just really tees me off, and it makes me helpless sometimes which later leads to feels of isolation. I, like many, have to overcome that. Thanks for giving us a place where we can voice such thoughts. Thanks...
