My Gender studies teacher (not the one from the Abuse class) e-mailed me this. I went to the site. It is very interesting. If anyone is interested. I'm thinking. Maybe she'll do a group of us. (just kidding.) If you do contact her tell her one of Claire Potter's students from the New School told you about her project.

Here's my teacher's e-mail:

A good friend of mine, a photography student at SVA has created a project photographing people who have been sexually assaulted. The person she is photographing writes a quote or a thought about their attack/from their attacker on a poster board and she will photograph them with the board in front of their face. It is about healing through art, she says. Currently she is touring around different schools to talk about it and present various exhibits on the project. Worth checking out.

This stuff is very powerful. I sat here, unable to close my mouth. I'm going to consider getting involved in this one.

Yeah I did, reminded me of my brother. Not a whole lot of men in the pics. Page 3 I think w/ a blank poster, I can't remember what was said to me, maybe it's a blessing.

Very moving work. Takes a lot of guts for those participants to speak out in such a way...and especially to put a face to the words. All of their 'quotes' hit home.

Reading through all of them actually triggered a memory of some words from my abuse. Hard to deal with but worth it.
