For me its not the bed but the sleep - because of dreams. That is getting better with therapy.

But I have the same kind of bad scary reactions to locker rooms and rest rooms and gyms and pools and even being in a group of guys...

I don't know the whole solution. but since starting to talk about it, my reactions have been less panicky and more bearable. writing it out helps me a lot - and posting here and hearing others say, "me too" or "i understand." just connecting the dots - 1 leads to 2, etc - and understanding the "mechanics" of why the trigger happens - seems to take some of the "mystical" power away - explain it to death!

glad you've at least found some relief by being here...

One thing that helped me with the bad dreams was to stop trying to fight them and just let them happened. By doing that the presleep tension was not as bad and I was able to get some sleep. I wish there was some pill we could take that would make them go away but I have not found it yet. Good Luck Mike

I have found a pill that was recommended for the nightmares by my P-doc. He knew about the CSA at the time he prescribed it for me, but only a little bit.

It is called Seroquel. it is an A-typical anti-psychotic, taken for off labeled use-meaning I am not Psychotic by take if for some other reason like for its side effect- that being severe drowsiness. the way I describe it is like "it turns your brain off for a few hrs." Also I take a micro dose of it.
Ppl with psychosis take as much as 3 grams per day, i only take half of the smallest dose that it comes in, 25mg, per day, at night only, right before I go to sleep and it helps tremendously!!!!!! i have to bite it in half because it is so small and not scored in the middle.

I hope that recommendation helps some of you.

Sincerely, Logan

Oh BTW, I chew the pill, and immediately rinse it down with water.
ya' know the whole more surface area to specific amount of volume thing.

anyway it seems to kick in much quicker and harder and so it works better for me and my doc said that it was ok to do this.

Just a suggestion.

Take care Gary,
Logan

I would suggest taking a good look at the bedroom layout, bed, sheets, pillows and mattresses. How do they match up to what you had as a child or a teen and how can you change the environment to create a different safe place you have claimed for yourself.

Maybe changing from a traditional mattress to an air mattress, waterbed or memory foam. putting a lock in the door and using it. changing the colors putting up pictures... Just a thought
