Sweet little child, born into this world so innocent and pure
I'm so sorry what is going to happen to you
There's no way to prepare you for this incredible pain
Always remember, there's no reason for your shame

The road will be long and filled with strife
But open your heart and be filled with life
You will find your love, a love so pure
Just take a deep breath while you endure

It will be cold and it will show on your face
But the love in your heart can never be replaced
Be sure to smile and to give a gentle hug
I promise, you will find your place in this world

Learn to be happy, and to set yourself free
When things get too tough remember to lean on me
I'm always with you, I have always been
I will never leave you, even when it feels like the end

When life gets tough and you wish time would stand still
Just remember child
I have always loved you
And I promise I always will

Beautiful, Alex!

if it's not too dense a question, is it you as an adult survivor speaking to yourself as a child? that's how i read it... wishful thinking or perceptiveness?
If that is the case, i hope you are hearing what you are saying and letting it soothe the hurts.

Lee

Wow Lee. You hit the nail right on the head, and it's not a dense question. It is essentially a "letter" to my inner child in the form of a poem. It is mostly perceptiveness, but a reminder to me that I am a good person no matter what has happened to me, and I need to remember that there is the inner child still struggling with it, not just the adult. smile

good, Alex.
i need to both affirm this message to my younger self - and hear it as well.
i'm not there yet - but getting closer...
thanks for putting this in words.
hope you don't mind if i borrow it as a helpful reminder and articulation of a goal?

Healing the wounded child is a work that , at least for CSA survivors, is important and in my experience, fruitful. I have fond and tender memories of guiding little Danny around the world, holding his hand, and proclaiming my ernest protection over him. Nicely written expression.

Thank you very much dancr6. I absolutely agree with you about the importance of healing the inner child. It is crucial and also very fruitful. I am truly enjoying connecting with little Alex and taking care of him now. I am in awe of his strength yet tenderness.

I can feel his strength and tenderness through your description. He's a lucky boy and you're good guardian.
