Hi,
I applied for disability because of the hyperthyroid and CHF. Hyperthyroid caused the CHF. It sucks to be sure. It sucks even more when you have no health insurance and no access to care for it.
I've tried to find other ways to get help. Disability can take up to 3 years to get. I see a doc at the health department and he's just treating the symptoms not the disease. He's a really nice, caring guy.
In 2006, 45,000 people died because of no healthcare or lack of quality healthcare. The latter will be me if I don't find something else. I just don't know what to do. I know the CHF and hyperthyroid are bad because I feel like I have a cold all the time.
I don't qualify for Medicaid since I already met all my quarters as they call them. I've looked at charities in Florida. Catholic Social Services had nothing. Florida is one of the worst states as far as caring for it's sick people. The free medicine here in Florida costs more than the pre>

No answers. Either no one cares or no one knows what to say. Disappointing.

Have you researched any clinical studies for hyperthyroid conditions and/or congestive heart failure? On virtually all trials, both the medications and frequent medical examinations by specialists or residents are covered 100% for the course of the trial.
I care.

I care. Eyesforward, The only thing to do is a thyroidectomy (removal). After that, my heart might be okay and the CHF resolves itself. Only thing they can do when you have goiters. It's about $100-125,000 with all the tests. Thank you for the information. You're a doll. xoxo

Not sure where in FL you live but have you considered researching to find out what hospitals in a reasonable distance from you have a good cardio department? Maybe if you went to the ER there you might have some better results.

Thank you, Sasuva and Onlyakid, for your kind words.
CHF is congestive heart failure.
Actually, yeah, looked into the U of F place Shands and our worthless Gov. Scott cut the programs there. They used to offer free stuff because it's a teaching hospital. But, Gov. Scott ended the funding for all the teaching hospitals connected with Fla. Universities.
I tried to get insurance about 9 months ago and they denied it based on the hyperthyroid. They said don't even bother applying. Then, got the CHF and insurance co. never cover anyone with heart issues. To sick to work but even when I wasn't, I'm basically useless to companies because I'm 40 or over even though I've got a degree and lots of experience.
I've met people my age with doctorates that were refused jobs and even an interview.
I used to think America was a great country until all this stuff. I don't anymore because Ron Paul and Rick Santorum basically said, "go and die if you don't have insurance" in that early December GOP debate. Tea party folk actually cheered the question about a person dying with no insurance during that debate when they asked, "do you just let him die?"
It's really sad that 50% of America has become heartless. You know a society is judged on how they take care of the sick and dying. Even on MS, user Magellan responded to this post (over in "male survivor") saying, "want pity?" Sad.

Phoenix, Try the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan at www.pcip.govIt does cost money but if you can find a way to pay for it, you can get better treatment.

I used to own a small business, not much to open. You can get group insurance (even for just 2 employees) and it will cover your pre-existing.
Please email me, my boat is the same as yours and I am taking care of it now.
I just joined this site for this purpose.
Yours in hope,
Elaine
