A mother of an Ayres victim has just been told by the deputy police chief that Ayres' lawyer is trying to say that Ayres is not mentally competent to stand trial.

Yet he's still out and about on bail, going to the opera, and not using the walker that he used as a prop for the first trial.

And at the first trial - which was only seven months ago- Ayres was reading the New Yorker and the New York Times every day.

I hope the Boston DA's office prosecutes him as well. They won't stand for this kind of nonsense.

He represented the victims of Father Geoghan, the priest who was murdered in prison.

Ayres worked in Boston from 1959 to 1963 at Judge Baker Guidance Center; Children's Hospital and Boston's Reception Center for Boys. It's not too late to come forward. Ayres can be prosecuted in Boston.

You heard it here first two weeks ago. Now Ayres' lawyer is asking for mental competency tests. This delays the trial a few weeks. If Ayres is found competent, the trial is on. If not, he's off to a state mental hospital.

Funny thing, reading the one article, the *&)(* is suffering from prostate cancer. Could there be a God and might he have a sense of irony?

The prostate cancer has been cured. This mental incompetency is a sham. Some of us sat behind Ayres during last July's trial and he was reading the New Yorker and the New York Times every day. He has been spotted out and about and -- in some cases-- alone.

Posters over at www.websleuths.com have been digging up information on the Reception-Detention Center for Boys in Boston, a place where Ayres testified that he worked on the weekends in the early 1960s. The Reception-Detention Center was started in 1957 and renamed the Judge John J Connelly Center in 1965. Ayres worked there from approx. 1961-1963.

Websleuths has found at least two men who have written memoirs about being sexually abused by staffers at the place where Ayres worked. One of them is Richard B. Johnson , who wrote in his memoir "Abominable Firebug" that he and other boys were routinely raped by staffers at the detention center.

The Ayres blog also received confirmation today from Richard B. Johnson that he was indeed raped at this center. Many of us wonder about Ayres' activities at this center.

Last year, before the first Ayres trial, the Sex Abuse Council in San Mateo (where Ayres practiced)invited journalist Victoria Balfour- who blew the whistle on Ayres in 2002 - to give a talk about her efforts to get Ayres prosecuted.

Here's a video of that talk. The moderator was former San Mateo Juvenile Judge Patricia Bresee. For years Bresee had sent boys to be evaluated by Dr Ayres. In this video, Bresee apologizes to the audience for having done so and talks about living with the pain of what she unwittingly did - sending boys to a molester.

In this section of journalist Victoria's talk on the Dr. William Ayres case in February 2009, sponsored by the San Mateo County Child Abuse Prevention Council, a therapist named Jeff Lugerner stands up and tells the audience that he reported in 1987 that Ayres had molested a boy. He says here in this video that Children's Services nor the police thoroughly investigated the claim, and that he believes that because Children's Services was using Ayres as their primary vendor, that they covered up the sex abuse complaint.

This is really becoming a sickening trend. In Calgary, prominent psychiatrist Dr. Aubrey Levin was arrested for molesting a male patient, who saw him in court ordered sessions. Now as many as 30 men have come forward to say the same thing happened to them. Canada is reviewing the cases Levin worked on as a witness.
