Sen. Barbara Mikulski (Maryland), who used to be a child services worker in Baltimore, chaired a hearing on setting national policies for preventing, recognizing and reporting child abuse.

http://help.senate.gov/hearings/hearing/?id=12f57f31-5056-9502-5d46-d6c877eaa515

The first witness was former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy, whose sexual abuse charges sent his junior league coach Graham James to the slam (briefly). I met him and got him to sign my copy of his book, "Why I Didn't Say Anything." I told him I'm always glad to hear when a perp gets caught, because the guy I knew didn't.

This is a very good post. It's important.

My severe abuse in the scout camp occurred in Maryland, the State in which she (Sen. Mikulski) is a Senator. It was a camp operated by the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Yes I am still angry about it. I gave open testimony regarding this matter to a committee of the City Council of the Nations Capital in 2008. She may have been there, I don't remember for sure. My testimony was essentially what I presented here in MS as pufferfish story part 5. The committee members received a copy of my story. The matter is out there for them to know about. They shouldn't deny it. I have spent a heap of money on counseling. How many other boys were destroyed by the abuser who abused me? Probably many. As far as I know I'm the only one who'se ever stepped forward about it.

So, my story has been presented to an offical committee in the nations capital and to the F.B.I. on different occasions. I have a letter to this affect.

I can't imagine how this feels to you. Vindicating? Scary? Like the past just fast-forwarded to today?

Thank God you did this...that you made your story a beacon of truth.
