Up in my tree
looking down on me,
Who could that be down there.
What's going on.

The wind swirls
And the leaves rustle,
I feel like screaming
But its so peaceful up here

Here in my tree
I look about me
The valleys and dales
So peaceful, I gaze.

Who is that man
And what is he doing
That child is crying
Why?

Up in my tree
So high and so free
The birds are calm
They are used to me

Down below the noise goes on
I strain to see.
What it's all about
Why does that boy shout

Its disrupting the peace that I feel
That screaming, its getting to me
Stop it you noisy wretch
I'm trying to bide the time

Biding time, up in my tree
Waiting for some to call me
Its so quiet now
The screaming has stopped

Ive climbed down
I'm lying on the ground
My body is burning
I taste Iron

What I wouldn't do
To be up in my tree
Where the world is peaceful
And I....don't have to be me

I spent so much time up in the safety of trees.

And my Mom would arrive to get me, in the dark, and in the snow... and never consider the implication of her small child often being so high trees on winter evenings.

So vivid...so powerful! The iron you taste is the strength that's been building on the inside of you while you were in the tree. You only hit the ground because the branch knew you had enough strength to make it "down there".
