Survivors can benefit from the work being done to help combat veterans. Damage from psychological and physical abuse definitely has overlaps.

Hey guys, I don't really belong here as I have never been in the military, but my wife was the victim of a pedestrian hit and run two years ago and suffered a TBI, and brain surgery was required. She was not supposed to live 24 hours past the surgery, but through a strong core self who continued to fight and rehab, that continues today, she is able to function on her own and lead a life that I refer to as "new normal". The brain and mind can heal together--my wife is living proof!
