Features a Canadian couple who are raising their children without gender, and they have never disclosed the sex of their 4-month old baby.

Actually, this is a misnomer.

The parents are not raising the child/ children without gender. They are not disclosing the sex of the child, at least for now.

Sex and gender are not synonymous.

Everyone has a sex. It's designated by anatomy.

What I think the parents are trying to do is to prevent/ minimize the narrow confines of gender role expectations the world inevitably places on people.

Afterall, what is the first question most ask upon finding about a pregnancy?

Is it a boy or a girl.

I think the parents want to raise their children with more broad and fluid ideas of what those two boxes typically mean.

It's ok for boys to wear pink, have long hair and play with dolls. It is equally ok for girls to wear blue, have short hair and play with trucks and footballs.
