How is it you come to me
in this flickering night
with thunder rumbling in the vast
expanse beyond an open window,

with a chill and pitter-patter
that fills the empty air
which is not so vacant
for the weight brings with it a dismay?

A stigmata of the heart
and my body knows it well for it is wrought
with empty desires to be feltó
but not of this world.

Standing towards the darkness
I feel the wind gust through me
crashing against walls and pictures filled with pretense
to disperse in echoless halls with creaky floorboards.

And I am shallow in this home
once guarded by the sound of crickets chirping
though, for tonight, the rain lends me its melody
while the wind extends a chilly hand.

This is a lovely poem. I can see the meanings can go in several directions but for this morning I wish to read it as if Iím watching a heavenly storm rolling overhead. And even with its frightening elements brought by thunderous actions it somehow is comforting with the rhythms I hear being beating on the roof and decks. Iím sure Iím way off the original meaning but for this moment I find pleasure in reading it this way.

Thanks for a nice wakeup melody

It can be taken any way you want! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was actually in quite a heavenly mood when I wrote this so it's funny that you found it that way.
