Tho my login name will of course remain Wuamei, from now on I would like to be known, in all forums on this site, as Victor. That is the name I will henceforth use to sign on & off.

I have chosen to begin the New Year by going by my real name, as Vic is short for Victor. Wuame(i)
was short for Wuame Iduno, which was slang for Who-Am-I I-Don't-Know, the way I've been feeling about myself pretty much all my life. Now I'm starting to know who I am--I am Victor, I am me.

I feel comfortable using my real name on the public forums becuz it means a "Victor," one who is victorious, which is how I'm starting to feel. On the public forums it will not be known that this is my real name, and will be given as a symbolic name, tho it is in fact both.

This will also make it easier, as someone recently mentioned the difficulty of remembering nicknames & real names & what forum you're in. I know people have referred to me as Vic in the public forum, and I've probably used some real names that weren't meant to be used too.

Now for me it won't matter. Everywhere on this site I will henceforth be "Victor."

If someone out of habit calls me "Wuame" that's ok--I'll just remind you of who I am, now. ;\)

Later Gentlemen

Victor

Thats great Victor. Its a big transition from Victim to Victor, only two letters though. I think its important that those of us who have made progress stick around to let the guys earlier on in their recovery know that it is possible.

I like the Wuamei name, I thought you were a Pacific Islander or something. Makes more sense now though. I think I am definitely going to change my name to "Mo_Healing", I just have to figure out how to do it. Maybe later I will change it again to "Max_Recovery". Glad to hear you had a great vacation. I'm from New York originally too. I wish going back in 1998 didn't trigger my breakdown. Or maybe I should say its too bad I didn't break down earlier.

P.s. I almost went to Lehigh (Allentown, PA), but I went somewhere else instead.

Mo_Healing (Les_Angry, (Mark))

Ha ha fooled ya! :p (Are you the 2nd one who's said Wuamei sounded Pacific Islander, or did someone else say that in the public forum?)

Your idea of name changes as you grow in recovery is cool, Mark. I thot of changing my login name to "Victor" but the only way I can figure out to do it is to re-register & start all over again from post #1. And I don't want to do that becuz I'm trying to catch up with Dave/Lloydy! :p \:D

Perhaps one of our resident "computer geeks" ;\) can help you--and me--more with this.

I just shared with someone on another site about the breakdown I had last March physically & emotionally: It was more like a break-up: breaking up out of the chains of my abusive past, and breaking up into freedom & newness of life. Hmmm, sounds kinda like recovery: recovering from and recovering to.

Hope you had a great Christmas & New Year time too!

Mark, Mo Healin to ya in 2003 & beyond! \:\)
