If you have read my post "in todays local paper". I called the lady that in in charge of this place. I explained that I was wanting to write something and send it to the paper hoping they would publish it letting people know the extent of the side effects of CSA. She told me the paper is going to run an article that will go on for several days. To make this short...she ask me to call the paper to talk with the women doing the article. This reporter wants to interview me anonymously and tell my story of how CSA has effected my life. She thinks it would be great. She has interviewed a 16 year old girl who was abused last year and a 60 year old women who was abused as a child also. But not a man who was abused as a child by a man. My question is what do you think about this and do you think I can trust them to keep my name anonymous? This is still not known to most all my friends and family.

Wayne,

Are you required to provide you personal information for it to be verified? Is it possible to use an Alias?

I'm not knowledgeable as to whether or no news papers keep that information confidential, but I would have the same concern that you are having.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you are able to use an Alias do it to protect your confidentiality. What you are doing is commendable; kudos to you smile
I hope this helps!

Best Regards,

Wayne,
My defense wall came up when I read your post. I was raised in a family that ran the local newspaper and they were always ethical. However, a cousin here in NY was "outed" by the NY Times when they chatted with the reporter (off the record) about his partner. I would be cautious, but I applaud you for your bravery. The bottom line is that people need to know what is / has happened to men. Best of luck!

She didn't ask my name only needs to do this either tomorrow or Friday. The article starts next week. She said we could meet and the center that the article was about not at the paper if I would like. I really want to do this hoping someone will read it and not wait 40 years like I have. Just not ready for this to public in my life.

This really sounds excellent.

I think they will keep it confidential if they said they would.

In situations like this, the paper will use a pseudonym for you at your request. Just be sure that the conversation is on the record (or off, if you wish to just give background but not publish certain info). They generally will respect your request to keep your name confidential as you are the victim of a crime, something that is policy in most newspapers and other media.

I have told her I will speak with her in person tomorrow at 10:00 am. I will not give my name. Feeling good about doing this but also feeling a little nervous too.
