...according to this article. It is a problem of priests attacking post pubescent boys. Here Well, now that that is straightened out, I... oh what!!?! "they weren't children and they weren't raped?" And these are or represent spiritual leadership... ...

Being post-pubescent does not equal consent. Bill Donahue needs to get his foot out of his big mouth. *sigh*.

I do believe that this is the most asinine thing I have read in a time. The age somehow justifies that most were willing? That past a certain age the chances of it really being unwanted diminishes? What a crock of crap. This man needs serious help if he thinks this spin he pulled out of his ass is really going to make any sense to anyone but an idiot like him.
What a piece of useless humanity.

Yes, not just a defense of actions and inactions on the part of their organization. It was a shot fired at the victims/survivors. Pure evil.

Disgusting. Donahue is Satan in a cheap suit.

Just my two cents.
I am pissed off at what Mr. Donahue said. Blaming the victims and sweeping their pain under the rug isn't holy and the church as a whole needs to do a lot of prayer and soul searching about what it needs to do to prevent sexual abuse from happening in churches, and extend its arm out to survivors in an effort to address wounds which will take generations to heal.
However, Donahue isn't the Catholic Church. He is just one Catholic layman with a big mouth, a fax machine, and an uncanny ability to write overly simplistic press releases that do nothing for the Church (and i am not just talking about the scandals, he runs his mouth off on a lot of other issues too). The Church is bigger than this press release.
my assailant attacked my faith and tried to take it away from me. i went to confession, told the priest what happened, and he said it wasn't a sin, it was sexual assault. he referred me to a therapist. That was the first time i ever opened up about my sexual assault. if it wasn't for the words of that priest, I probably would not be in recovery today. who knows where i would be...

My brothers,
I am ashamed about this lay (leader) i am ashamed of my religion.
I am ashamed that they are still in denial that "men of God" do such terrible things in his name.
I feel guilty that i was already a sexually abused boy before i was in that Catholic orphanage/Home. My guilt comes from another of our brothers here, as he told me Peter, your haven (safe place) was his HELL as he was sexually abused by a religious brother there.
Didn't God know that i was already stained? Why did they have to take another's body & soul? In the name of God no doubt.
But, i have to admit that they took good care of me there. They did love me, they did care about me. There i was safe at the expense of another clean & pure Catholic boy.
Heal well, my brothers, heal well.
Pete..Irishmoose.

I love that focus you have on the target. Trust me, if I lived near you I would without a doubt stand with you on Easter Sunday.
Would you PLEASE tell them, PLEASE tell them, that what they say and do, GOD is watching and GOD is disgusted. This man of the cloth, is a fake and unworthy of his position. FACTS of the matter concerning clergy abuse are now well documented, tell these fuckers that Don Sutton in Escondido, California says to kiss his ass. The leadership, all the way up to the POPE have been shown to hide shit relative these matters. Spit on some there would ya!!!!!!!

My suggestion is to work through the organization SNAP: http://www.snapnetwork.org/(Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests) They are good people. They have some very smart lawyers and authors working with them. They know how to work with these people. Don't think that you have nothing to loose. They have a section on news in Massachusetts. http://www.snapnetwork.org/news/massachus_index.htmRead up on their website before you go any further. Don't underestimate the meanness and treachery of the people you are choosing to challenge. SNAP is a fellow "Survivors" organization working mainly with the RC Church. They have a division of their website devoted to baptist abuse. http://www.snapnetwork.org/news/baptistindex.htmOthers who are frequenting this sight might want to be aware of SNAP. Allen

For me Robbie this coming Easter will be one I can turn once more to GOD in prayer. I will pray with my faith in HIM to watch over you and others working so hard to reveal the truth. Our efforts moving forward to see greater light on this important subject matter should not be dimmed by those unworthy of HIS praise.................GOD IS WATCHING!
