Afghanistan has agreed with the United Nations to cease using boy sex slaves (bacha bazi) and also boy soldiers.

This is so sad. I find it difficult to understand how a country can turn a blind eye to this. I realize there are cultural differences, but to do this to these boys just because they come from poor families is horrible. It just goes to show you how much evil there is in this world.

@DanM: Just as my sister in law said yesterday: in many countries in the Middle East, they focus on the girls. They tell them about sexual abuse and how not to let anyone come close to you or getting you undressed... But they forget that boys are often victims of this too.
Here mum use to tell her about how to be careful of men trying to approach her. When she was 11, her 16year old neighbour pulled down his pants, let his sister give him a blow job and asked the same from her. She ran away and told her mum. The boy was beaten up and punished because of what he did. 7 years later they started abusing her baby brother and it lasted for 10 years. But he was ashamed of telling, because this of course doesn't happen to boys.

The kids used are recruited from madrassas or strict islamist schools geared toward poor children with no other education available. The teachers then select a few for extremist action, especially the most vulnerable. These select vulnerable are then drilled to believe there purpose for existing is this. Think how easy this is in children who have not developed adequate logic, mental faculties to see through what they are taught. These children have no chance to make a decision other than the one made for them. This is truly the most despicable abuse imaginable. Any religious sect or belief where this is an acceptable form of warfare is morally bankrupt and grounded in Satan.

This is also why the Taliban are starting to lose the war for support of the people.
