There's a lot of land and neighborhood involved in my abuse...houses, woods, etc. I really want to see it all but if I visit the area I may have problems with emotion.

I used Google Earth to look at the scene of the crime and all my childhood places, home and such from space. It was very painfull and very healing at the same time. Hard to explain. I had a good, long cry over it. Its amazing what you can see.

Anyway, you might want to try it. I'm glad I did it.

I looked at the aerial view of my perp's house. Not much changed but my grandpa's house was torn down for some reason. It brought back lots of memories for me. Very powerful.

People without Google Earth can just use the regular Google for their old neighborhood address and the "switch" to satelite mode. It should allow you to zoom in enough on actual earth.

James, the effort to see all this came from a comment from someone whom had a different view of what the past abuse means to him and the role it plays in his self-definition. I wrestled for three days with that (cried a lot) and then went to the space view and saw the very spot where it first happened and the houses where it continued for years. I saw the woods that I owned and ran as a wild-child....I saw it was all still there...unchanged...not knowing if it was mocking me or proving some warpped durability that it will out-last me.
