Roommate or not? For those that have attended in the past, did u have a single double or triple? Why? Why not? Is having a roomate a helpful part of the experience? Or more challenging? Any thoughts appreciated.

A room on your own or with fewer room mates is always more expensive. I had a room with two other guys and I took plenty of ear plugs to share or to use myself.
I think having the room mates was helpful for the experience and more fun. I prefer it to being alone.

Howdy, my brothers.
Well, now i tell them that i'm gay. Plus my age (71), maybe they would rather be with their own generation.
I don't ever want to have a "private" room. (i can afford it).
I'll bunk in a room with others, as i don't ever want to be alone.
I will respect my other room mates wishes, and their boundaries.
Plus, we can talk frankly about our fears & we can see their tears. If permission is granted we can even give them a reassuring hug.
Heal well, my fraternal brothers, heal well.

Mark -
You brought up an interesting point for me. You said something about the cost difference between going solo of rooming with others. I was under the assumption that the WoR was a flat fee which included everything but one's travel. Could you or someone else explain this a bit more for me?

The cost differs by whether you have a private single occupancy room with bath or double (1 roommate) or triple (2 roommates). The difference in price is about 200 or so. When u start the registration screen, it's about 3 pages in.

I had a room to myself and I was glad to have it. I need a place to decompress and having the cabin to myself gave me a place to go to, even when I didn't feel I needed to.

When I registered I signed up for a single room, basically as a public service, because I snore! However kind that might have been to my WoR brothers, going back to my single room each night felt lonely and even a bit scary at the end of those days of such intense and wonderful "togetherness."
I also think not having WoR roommates means I missed out on another chance to meet and bond with some of the guys there, and I was so aware that every minute of time we got to spend just getting to know each other was both limited and precious.
But this is a very individual thing, I think - a single room would feel like a helpful sanctuary for some people (see Alidade's post above) but feel like exile to others. Know thyself...

I really appreciate this question being raised, thank you survivingguy and also I appreciate the great responses. I've been considering this and good to know there are options.
