I have a used Motherboard installed in my laptop. It ran fine and in fact was quite a bit faster than my other computer with a faster processor after I installed a 7200rpm HD.
then one day I decided I needed to set a password on the machine and I couldn't. Come to find Toshiba had a recall on the machine's BIOS and would fix it for free. When I got it back it is slower than it was when I first bought it and the lojack software is activated.
Absolute has been great trying to turn it off but they can't find my machine online and Toshiba is now refusing to accept responsibility for their actions even though I forwarded the Absolute Software emails in which their man told me they get hundreds of cases like mine where BIOS work has turned it on in machines that the owners had not paid for it to be activated. They're happy to fix it if I pay!
I'm not sure how this realates here but I don't like having to use this thing with that program running. I don't have a cam, I wouldn't if given a choice but you have to have one if you buy an up to date laptop now.
Anyway I've written The guy I was dealing with at absolute and he's forwarded it to managment and sent me their emial. He isn't permitted to comment.
Here is the website for the mentioned software. It is meant for legitimate managment of networks.www.lanrev.com/
