One of our Volcanoes erupted last night, I think its been hundereds of years since that volcano last erupted, and this is the first eruption since 2001 I think,

Sooo tempted to go over there, but the roads are closed lol, this has been on the news over here all night,

Here's some better pictures of the lava spew

Edit: The news said the activity is increasing, the lava might reach under the glacier and they are prepared for a flood due to melting glacier ice in the rivers

Here's some new pictures of the area

Wow! Be careful out there Marc. I've heard of storm chasers going after tornadoes, but this looks even more extreme!

I remember an eruption when you guys got all involved with fire hoses and sea water and stopped it from completely destroying a town.

Volcano still going strong, some new development tho, there is a nearly 200 meter high lava "water"fall flowing down into a crack which will lead the lava straight into one of our national parks, popular camping site, at this rate the lava will reach the park in 2 days, they are now estimating the volcano may be active for the next couple months.

new pics of the show.

Really interesting stuff, Marcus. I've always been fascinated with volcanoes. I was visiting with relatives who lived inside the "Red Zone" surrounding Mt. St. Helens when she blew her top back on May 18, 1980. Thankfully the house was located on the south side of the peak and the mountain blew to the north, or we'd have been crispy critters for sure!

I'm heading up there either tomorrow or saturday, its a 5 hours walk from the nearest road, but they just opened the area for the public,

I figure if I dont go I'll regret it for the rest of my life, this is something that isnt always available to see, I know this isnt the last eruption in my life time, but this eruption is a lot more tame then they can be so im going!
