if you spend so much time licking your wounds your wounds will never have a chance to heal.

we spend so much time licking our wounds that there is no time to heal
no time to scab up

no time to clot
stop licking the wounds

go through the process
begin to heal

stop picking the scab bringing the wound to infection

begin to heal
wounds hurt almost to the point of death
but we live in a world with the best medicine
problem is we choose to medicate with the wrong things

choose to heal stop licking your wounds

I really like the thought behind this. Unfortunately many people here just want to keep "licking their wounds". I have chosen to heal and move on. That is why my poetry contains less and less about my abuse, and more about life.

I like your poetry and I get it. My concern is we must be careful not to silence those that are in a different place in the healing process. To move on is paramount but one thing we all share in common is we were forced to do something and we need to be careful not to repeat that action.

I would never think of silencing anyone. I used this forum to a great extent for an outlet of release. And I realize that we all cope with and process things at a different level. However there is a true danger to ones psyche when we live in the past for any length of time. We actually have to forgive and let go of what happened to us, to be able to move on and heal. I have much empathy for people who are unable to do this.
