This is encouraging if true. One child is too many though. I think that a lot of organizations such as Boy Scouts, the Catholic Church, other churches, youth leagues, schools and others, have put in place programs and procedures to prevent abuse. Such efforts can never be 100 percent effective, but are important. Also, compare what happened to Ken Parcels (who kidnapped Steven Stayner and abuse him for seven years in the 1970s but only served 5 in prison) to Michael Devlin (who kidnapped and abused Shaun Hornbeck for 4 years ending in 2007 and got life in prison). My own perp, kidnapping and abusing me for 2 weeks in 1976, died unpunished of lung cancer at age 64. The sheriff in his county was aware of the kidnapping and who did it but did little other than make sure we left the county. Hope both bastards rot in hell.

To comment on my own question:

No I don't think it's decreasing. Something is wrong with that report.

Look at this forum. What does that tell you. There are now 7362 registered users as of today. There are 316133 posts about CSA (child sexual abuse).

I don't believe it either.

I figure either A, the report is just wrong (purposefully or otherwise I don't know).

Or perps are learning to silence their victims better than before.

Either way, I don't buy it at all.

I don't think it necessarily tells us anything. Most of the active membership here were abused years ago, in some occasions decades ago. If sexual abuse worldwide suddenly and completely stopped RIGHT THIS MINUTE, this site's membership would continue to grow over time simply because of all the abuse that's already happened.
