I was in pain yesterday. Its a pain in my lower abdomen and even into my scrotum. I have had it about three times before over the last several months. It has generally lasted a couple days and gone away. I never got it looked at.
Well yesterday I had same pain but in late afternoon I suddenly developed sharp pain from my lower abdomen and down through my penis and when I urinated it burned and it was very evident that there was blood in my urine. I have never had that before. I remained in pain for a couple hours. Driving home from work was difficult. When I got home I took some pain meds and I've been drinking lots of water. The pain has pretty much subsided but it was hard going to sleep because I felt the need to urinate but couldn't.
Ugh! I don't want to see the doctor about this. But at the STRONG urging of others, I made an appointment to see my Dr. at 4:15 today. Its a good thing I also see my T at Noon.
ARGH!!!!

Barkabus It sounds like a urinary tract infection. Fortunately it should yield to some good antibiotics. Allen pufferfish

Saw my doctor today. The urine test did show trace amounts of blood and bacteria. He says it is likely UTI but given the rarity of this in males he may send me to have an ultrasound or a C.A.T. scan. I got some antibiotics and an appointment to see him next Wednesday. I suppose it will be next week when he'll decide if further tests should be ordered.
It was suggested I inform my doctor that I am a CSA survivor. I got very nervous when he asked me to lie down. I stopped and asked him what he was going to do. That's when I told him that I was a survivor. He said, "no problem, I'll tell you what I am about to do before I do it." I was still pretty dang freaked but it put me a little more at ease.

Mike, this unlearned lay person has had a lotoffriends who have passed kidney stones. Sounds like you could have oneor two. A quick non-invasive ultrasound will let ya know.
Keep us in the loop buddy,
Peter

Wow, Mike, that was really brave, i couldn't do that, i think i would have to be dragged to the doctors if he was checking me down there. I guess that is something i have to work on, and you are leading a good example!

Mike,
I'm glad you went in to find out what was going on
I've had 2 UTI's - the first one was while I was in the military and I let it go untill it almost did kidney damage
yes - it is rare in men - but... it does happen

The pain has been gone since last Tuesday however I've continued to an uncomfortable pressure and today I'm feeling some discomfort in my penis. Grr. Well, I see my doc again on Wed. We'll see.

oh, sorry for not giving an update on this. I saw my doctor again last Wednesday after taking antibiotics for a week. The urine test came back clear, no blood cells, no bacteria. My doctor is still concerned about how the UTI got started however at this point he said come see him again if it comes back. And if it does then he will send me in for a CAT scan. I have not had any pain since I first seen the doctor three weeks ago however I still have occasional discomfort while urinating or feel pressure to go but don't need to. I told my doctor this. That's why he is still a bit concerned but is willing to wait and see at this point.
Thanks for asking.
Mike

If it comes back, even slightly, I would ensure to make a Doctors appointment right then. Hopefully the antibiotics cleared it up though. Appreciated the update, thanks!

Its back!!!
Been having some pain down there again, not as bad as before but it's gradually getting worse so I just made an appointment to see the doc this afternoon. My doctor is on vacation so I have to see an associate of his and...its a woman! Last time I saw my doctor about this I was triggered out pretty bad. Here we go again!!!
I wonder if this is going to mean a CAT scan now.
Dang it, I hate this!

The unrine analysis came up negative. No sign of a urinary tract infection. The female PA needed me to drop my pants so she could examine me. I dissociated to get through it. She wants to test for diabetes. I go in Friday morning for a blood test.
I'm pretty freaked out about that.

I just heard back on the tests. The fasting blood glucose level is a little high but nothing to be concerned about. All the other tests came back normal.
I am so relieved!
This still doesn't explain the pain (discomfort/pressure) I had but it seems to be fine now so I'll not worry about unless it comes back.
