I just wanted to introduce you all to my childhood dog, Murphy (my aviator). My mom's friend found an entire litter on the side of the highway in a garbage bag. She was a mutt, but we think she had some irish wolfhound in her. My mom would tell her to come and get me and she would run out and literally herd me back to the house. Occasionally she would run away and go to the marina, roll around in rotten fish and come home smelling rancid. She helped me through the good times and the bad. She lived to a healthy 14 before she passed away. I loved her to death.

Any of you guys have a childhood pet that loved you through good times and bad, no matter what.

Hi my brother, Riley.

Yes this old boy sure did.

He was my brother, he was the only real family as far as I was concerened. He surely cared for this lonley, angry boy.

Gave me his unconditional love, and attention. We were unseperable. We went everywhere together, we slept together and we played together, we even talked to each other.

From him (Muggs) I got more compassion, understanding and love from him than my "mother".

He was my very heart and soul. When he died I did too. I gave him a good Catholic burial, Mass, prayers & cross for a head stone.

There is a story about him, in the off topic, bwest-worst childhood memories. Mine is #284762.

Heal well Riley, my brother, my friend.

Little Pete & big Pete 1 (Irishmoose)

I had a dog when I was older. She died young though unfortunately.

She was an English pointer. Beautiful show quality dog. Absolutely gorgeous and she had the most gentle spirit.

Man I wish she was still here.

Here she is! I would have been about 17 here:

She liked to sit on my lap. I don't think she ever realized that she was such a big dog!

and

This is her normal table stance!
She'd either rest her head on my shoulder or she'd rest her head on my leg and just stare up at me...... waiting for me to give her some food!

My dad bought me a Miniature Shnauzer when I was ten. We named him Neo like the character from the Matrix. I love him so much and when my dad died I looked to Neo as an extention of my dad. Sometimes I actually thought Neo looked like my dad. I haven't seen him for about three years because he lives with my maturnal grandmother. I hope he's OK. I still love him.

My dog was picked up by the side of the highway by a friend. He was all covered with mud and fleas and in bad shape. She took him to a vet and then gave him to us. We had him neutered. the vet (different vet) did a bad job leaving him with a very serious infection that required intervention by another doctor.
