What colour is the ribbon for supporting the fight against child abuse? Purple? and what day do we suppose to wear it?

http://www.thefind.com/jewelry/info-child-abuse-awareness-blue-ribbonThe color is dark blue. The above link has various merchandise items to raise awareness. There is a day each year set aside for worldwid awareness. Not sure if it is a set day each year. For the U.S. April is the designated month and October for Canada.

Thanks! I will have to find out when it is for the UK, i thought it was purple because i thought they were wearing purple ribbons when there was that stir about the boarding school/orphanage not long ago.
In a search i also found that some sites say purple ribbons are for child abuse too, and they have a purple ribbon day and a purple ribbon campaign.
But searching elsewhere it does seem to say dark blue for child abuse, and doesn't say that purple is for child abuse on most other sites. It is confusing.
I think the purple is more towards anti-violence according to other sources.
According to one site dark blue does represent child abuse, but also many other things. I guess that it is inevitable since there are so many colours and so many causes. With further cross referencing i find that yes dark blue is definitely the colour.
I think the keyrings are a good idea.

Somehow, when I first saw this thread I envisioned a sea of men, marching in places like Washington DC, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Paris, Joburg, Vancouver, Auckland, Syndey, Melbounre, Rome, San Francisco, New York, Moscow, St. Petersberg, Berlin, Amsterdam, all over the world. Carrying signs, wearing T-shirts, shouting, chanting, singing together as Male Survivors, saying we are proud to be able to say we are Survivors. Imagine the Million Man March of years ago, only all survivors. WOW!
I have a dream..... (Sorry Martin for stealing your line)
Someday maybe, hopefully in my lifetime.....
Jim

I am curious about both, i do wonder whether male childhood sexual abuse has a ribbon of its own? I don't think it does...yet. There may be some kind of malesurvivor march perhaps, i am not sure. I found this in a search. SURVIVORS' MARCH & RALLY AGAINST CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE c/o Step Up Phone: 020 8500 4914 Website: www.survivorsswindon.com/2008.htmAn annual march and rally against child sexual abuse. It usually takes place in September, in London, marching from Hyde Park to the Rally in Trafalgar Square. Visit the website above for some quotes from other people who've been there. Contact Step Up for further information, or to offer your help in making sure the March happens again next year That is being held on the 26th September 2009 according to the website.
