I was told today
        Still can't believe it's true

Wasn't it just yesterday
        that we laughed
                cried
        shared our lives

And now
       in what feels
                less than a moment

You are gone

I watched the stars tonight
        thinking about you
                about our talks
when I caught the flicker
        Of a star off the horizon

Tiny and brilliant
                it flickered in quiet joy

You made it to heaven my friend
        And I will miss you

But your light still shines
                here

In the hearts of those
        who knew you
                Who heard the strings of your soul
                        play the symphony
                                of your compassion

I am glad you are free of the pain, Gary

                ... but you will still be missed
