The best hockey game that I ever saw in person in my life was a regular season contest between the Red Wings and the Penguins at old Olympia Stadium in Detroit in the Fall of 1975. The Wings won 3 to 1 and the game was marred by several bench-clearing brawls. This was back in the day of Polonich and Maloney. The best hockey game that I ever saw on TV was the Winnipeg Jets beating-up on the poor Red Wings in a playoff game in Winnipeg the last season that the Jets were in Winnipeg before moving to Phoenix. This game is on YouTube in its entirety (in several parts). A close second would be Edmonton's home victories against the Islanders the first season that the Oiler's won the Stanley Cup. Our Denver Avs used to play exciting hockey, and someday may yet again. The beginning of their downfall was Claude Lemiuex running that Red Wings player into the boards by the players bench in 1996. That 1997 game that I posted links to was where the Wings got even.
Everyone knows that the Lakers moved from Milwaukee, back when Kareem was known as Lew Alcindor. Hard to believe that our Nuggets lasted as long as they did against the Lakers meat grinder.
