THE SURVIVORS TREK

The sun rising over tenements ominous embrace
fired up the spoors connecting poverty's endless grid
It lapped the tears from the innocent victim's face
within the morn the terrors of night were hid.

The yawning stretch of others which fortune blessed
opened their sleepy eyes to promised dawn
not so the lad within whom misfortune pressed
a tortured heart and a soul forlorn

Caused by lure of trust abased
I pray sweet innocence endures the storm
O God I pray thee - let sweet innocence endure the storm

So goes the prayer down deep within
a thirsting hearts desire
to find quieting peace to quell the din
and smother betrayals consuming fire
Yes, just to smother betrayals consuming fire.

Dear God
grant me a steely will and A steadfast step
If need be place angels at my side
let no suffering memories impede my trek
for tender touch of love to find
thus to mend my heart now pierced ---- with peace
and a lifelong companion with whom I'll bind
With you Lord, and maybe, just maybe -
a lifes companion with whom I'll bind

Tony

lazy saturday morning after a quiet friday nite and i finally get around to reading some of the recent posts.

awesome tony. i love the way you put the words together and the content deals with those topics we all face:

suppression, innocence lost, broken trust, hope one day to meet agape love.

i especially enjoy the lines 'the yawning stretch of others which fortune blessed opened their sleepy eyes to promised dawn'.

an option we will always be refused, our legacy one of torment and mental emotional and spiritual anguish.

thank god for male survivor; it's here where we find those guardian angels hard at work stroke by stroke cutting a generous swath along our path on our trek to freedom from the tragic effects of male sexual abuse and assault.

your friend on the recovery road,

ron

Thanx Ron

Written about ten years ago, I still read it because it resonates.
Poetry for me was to find the proper expression to my emotions a way to express what was grinding away in my soul. The right word or expression, just the right phrase, when done and read by you gives you the opportunity to take an objective view of yourself. By sharing it -- I open myself to others and trust.
That's what this site does, opens you up to the companions on the trek; "the angels at our side"
Thanx Ron for being the angel that you are, for so many, and for so long.

your fellow journey man

Tony
