Wonder Woman.......as a review states: "Gets better with age". You might find it interesting to note that Lyle Wagner was the first model to ever pose for Playgirl. (don't ask how I know that!!)

Match Game (game show theme song) The guitar at the beginning is so funky, I literally feel like I'm back in the 70's again.

Batman...........what more is there to say?

James Bond..............ahhh yes, and forget the "new" and revamps versions with their incorporated "modern" sounding beats mixed in blahhhh!! Only the original was worthy of my nomination.

Feel free to add your own nominations for the Greatest Theme Songs of all time, hehe. Interesting to note that 3 out of 4 of my favorites have to do with super-heroes.........

The Legion of Doom was very cool........but the theme song just didn't catch me, not the way BOTP did.

Hawaii 5-0 huh? lol,ok. Nominated by Michael Banks for one of the greatest theme songs of all time, Hawaii 5-0.

Hey Mark,
Came across the "I Dream of Jeanie" intro, and was instantly reminded of one thing that used to aggravate me as a toddler: namely, old live-action sitcoms with animated intros!
At age 3 or 4, all i knew was, "Oh goody- a cartoon! ...Hey, waitaminit... this ain't a cartoon! GRRR..." :P
Also, since we've got Super Chicken up here, why not The Mighty Heroes ?

Ever notice that you can sing the lyrics of "Amazing Grace" to the tune of the Gilligan's Island theme?

ETA: And the best part is, from now on you'll never be able to hear "Amazing Grace" without remembering this fact.

Some of the most powerful lyrics I have ever heard, especially around 1:12-1:26.

What a cool thread! As soon as I saw it I had no doubt about my favorites - the themes for the CSI shows, all of which are taken from songs by The Who, my all-time favorite rock band.

But okay, one from childhood: has no one chosen this one yet????? I just can't believe it!!!!!!! laugh

Larry,

That was because the Lone Ranger was from my Dad's childhood.

Ouch!!!!! laugh When I was a kid I thought the show was historical. That is, I thought the Lone Ranger was a real person and these shows were about his life.

But then, that's what I thought about Horatio Hornblower too. I was devastated when I asked for more books about him and the librarian took me to the "fiction" department. I was looking under "European history". smile

The Lone Ranger was an awesome show.

Mel? You got me. I thought you were describing "Challenge of the Superfriends", not the original "Superfriends". So, in my anxiousness to display my superior intellectual prowess regarding 70's Saturday morning cartoons trivia, I made an error.
