A couple of queen songs

I debated putting this here or in the other forum. But I decided on here because it is more about me than the songs. I was listening to the radio and I heard Queen's Fat Bottom Girls. Now i have heard this song before many times, but today it struck me in a whole new light. Before I always though of it as a cheery sort of accepting song. But today it was almost a triggering song. It made me think of the girl who molested me, and then I got a cold feeling toward the song. And I thought of what might have gone into the writing of the song and wondered if Freddy Mercury(if indeed he wrote it) had been abused and that drove him into his particular sexuality. It made me feel sad and compassionate and just a little bit whistful. I really wish I did not know what I know, or was made to know.
And then as I started to go to this board, I heard "SOmebody to love" And the pleading lyrics seem to describe me pretty well. Odd that two such songs would strike me in such a way on the same day. The profound feelings expressed by two songs and both relate to my abuse and the after effects. I don't know if I have a point to all this, but I did need to share. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Queen's Fat Bottom Girls
Are you gonna take me home tonight? Ah down beside that red fire light Are you gonna let it all hang out? Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Hey I was just a skinny lad Never knew no good from bad But I knew love before I left my nursery Left alone with big fat Fanny She was such a naughty nanny Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me Hey hey!
I've been singing with my band Across the wire across the land I've seen every blue eyed floozy on the way But their beauty and their style Went kind of smooth after a while Take me to them lovely ladies every time
Oh won't you take me home tonight Oh down beside your red firelight Oh and you give it all you got Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round
Hey listen here Now your mortgages and homes And the stiffness in your bones Ain't no beauty queens in this locality (I tell you) Oh but I still get my pleasure Still get my greatest treasure Heap big woman you made a bad boy out of me
Oh you gonna take me home tonight (Please) Oh down beside that red firelight Oh you gonna let it all hang out? Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round Fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round Get on your bikes and ride Fat bottomed girls Fat bottomed girls
Somebody To Love by Darby Slick 1965
When the truth is found to be lies You know the joy within you dies Donšt you want somebody to love ? Donšt you want somebody to love ? Wouldnšt you love somebody to love ? You better find someone to love Find somebody to love Find somebody to love Find somebody to love When the dawn is rose they are dead, Yes, and youšre mine, youšre so full of red Your eyes, I say your eyes may look like his, Yeah, but in your head, baby, Išm afraid you donšt know Where it is. Tears are running, Running along down your breast And your friends, baby, They treat you like a guest
------
You are not the first to get floored by these two songs,
J

Parttimecop,
Queen was big when I was young. I always wondered about Fat Bottom Girls, too, but I thought it was because of my abuse, perhaps it put a slant on everyting I heard. I think you may be right.
The song that I came to live by, though, was 'I Am a Rock, I Am an Island' by Simon and Garfunkel. I lived that song all thru highschool and college, pretty much. Still do to some degree, but this rock does feel pain at times now.

Queen songs remind me of a few things.
In Boy Scouts our troop won the winter games between all the troops in the Council. Going back with our trophy to the cabin we were singing We are the Champions. A little arrogant, but we were so proud.
In college on days with exams in Chemistry 101 there was always Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" blaring throughout the campus. CHM101 was the weeder class.
Being in the Detroit area, "Another One Bites the Dust" was also a theme song of the Silver Rush. Not that the Lions ever really kicked butt.
(quick edit for format)
