Earlier today I received a PM from Larry's sister who has been a longtime F&F member on this discussion board. I've included below excerpts from her message. Basically Larry is hospitalized here in the states for a serious though non-life-threatening illness. If anyone would like to send Larry greetings please feel free to comment here and we'll make sure he gets your messages:

Hope you get better soon Larry! Take all the time you need to rest, and when i know for sure that you are perfectly ok i am sure i will be able to conjure up some jokes about your technicolour skin, but right now i'm really concerned about you, and suprised that you like hospital jelly, that's like the worst kind of jelly there is! anyway, get in touch when you feel well enough

I really miss you, Larry. I know that your life isn't in danger and that you will be perfectly okay in the near future, but I can't help but worry about the worst possible scenario.

In the meantime, try peach or pineapple jello. I'd actually insist on the best food the doctor(s) will allow. I had a stay one time where the guy next to me was eating like a king and I was eating like a pauper. (We had the same operation).

I hope you get to see the superbowl. If the hospital staff will not provide you coverage (and you feel up to it) I suggest you call up your friends and, make a break for it (take a temporary leave of absence). This might be a group effort, if your hooked up to a lot of stuff. Be carefull not to go too far and travel in a fast ride. (One can't be to carefull about these kind of things).

Lady Rock here......I just talked to Larry and he appreciates all the greetings. He still looks like he was held hostage in a tanning bed gone bad. He has faded from bright orange to glowing yellow. He's in very good spirits, and he has a nice big flat screen tv to watch the game, and a room mate who is also cheering on the Steelers. John, on the Roadside Attraction idea, he thanks you. He said he'll think about that one. Maybe even something more attractive than the World's Largest Ball of Twine. I have a pic of him on my phone (sorry, just couldn't resist), but can't figure out how to transfer it to here. Best Wishes from Larry, through me. Well, I admit this topic caught me on the hop slightly, having not really had time to check the forums sinse I came back from Italy on Saturday.

It was great to meet you at Mike Loo's workshop Larry, and I really hope you can feel better and deorangify yourself soon.

You've done a lot of things for me, ---- not the least suggesting the conference in the first place, and I really do hope you get well before too long.

If you start feeling better...but they won't let you go, I suggest making a funnelator.

Everything you need is in the Hospital.

1.Funnel

2.Surgical Tubing

3.Ballons/latex gloves

All you need to do is make a couple of holes on opposing sides of the funnel. Attach the surgical tubing(to the funnel)and secure the other ends/or have accomplices hold the ends.

Now you have a funnelator...So all you need to do now, is prepare your ammo by filling the ballons or gloves with water.

Find a target...like an entrance or a nurses station and now your in (funny) business...!!!

Thanks for your greetings and good wishes. Cathie was reading them out to me when I was in the hospital and they mean a lot to me. I was at least in a room with a fellow Steelers fan - I mean, a REAL Steelers fan ... someone who was nuts about Pittsburgh before Bradshaw, Franco, and Mean Joe. What a game - one of the best football games I have ever seen.

Anyhoo - I'm back home and in pretty good shape so you should be seeing more of me here. I seem to have collected a bunch of new nicknames: "the Great Pumpkin", "Agent Orange", etc. Cath sent me a few pics when I was at my glowing best, and I'll try to put up one or two.
