But still good

Poem: Invictus

(taking responsibility for one’s destiny)

Invictus

by William Ernest Henley; 1849-1903

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

I love this Poem

Very touching, speaks to so many feelings I've had lately.
Thanks for sharing this.

Logan,

It's a great poem and so relevant to our situation. Each of us is indeed the captain of his own soul. We can seek support and guidance, yes, and we should do that. We should talk to each other and exchange ideas and suggestions. But at the end of the day we are all responsible for our own future. No one can make the tough decisions for us or save us from the hard work.

A daunting thought, perhaps, but it's also true that each of us already has all the strength and courage he will need for the task ahead.

Much love,
Larry
