Hi, King Tut. I'm with you on this WOR thing. It would be cheaper for me to go to the USA, than have to pay for a large entourage to come over to this side of the pond. I would take time while I'm there to visit friends. Heal well my friend.

Thank you for the replies. I do realize that making a WOR in Europe takes lots of planning and it may take some years before it can happen. So more the reason to start preparing and planning!

I also do realize that I have to make it a priority to go myself to some of the retreats in USA, in order to be able to gather personal experience and in order to help facilitate a European WOR. I hope more Europeans will be able to come too!

We need more awareness about SCA of boys among social workers and therapists on this side of the Atlantic, and we need more in-person support groups for male survivors.

I am not sure how many it takes to help faciliate a WOR? What are the requirements for volunteering?

Also thank you king_Tut and Peter for your input about finding a location. In the UK or elsewhere.

I do realize that a team of facilitators coming from USA/Canada will add to the cost for the participants. But I do think that asking for reduced airline tickets as a charity, and finding some that are willing to sponsor a WOR is possible. I may be naive but It never hurts to ask! Surprisingly often I have found that people says yes.

I do hope that those in Europe on this Forum are willing to state whether there is interest for participating in a WOR in Europe, in this thread.

I wish those going for this weekends WOR my best regards and hope it will benefit them in their recovery.

I just found out about this European Weekend retreat a week or 2 ago. WOW we already have WORS in Europe!!! What great news this is!

I sure Will Steve. I was really excited to see that at least one European country had a group like Swindon. It sure has taken many years to put focus on sexual abuse of boys and recovery here in Europe.

Sorry to be coming to this so late. A European WoR would make a lot of sense for guys who already live in Europe, less so for survivors in the USA unless they want a break in Europe at the same time.

I agree with Lewis - London would NOT be the appropriate venue. It's very expensive, the public transportation system is a mess, and it would lack the vibes that would encourage guys to deal with the issues that will arise.

A venue in the countryside would be great, and the suggestion of Wales is a really good one. Costs would be more reasonable, and depending where you want to go it's not difficult to get there - 2 hours from London Paddington and you're already as far as Cardiff.

Perhaps we should consider a WoR in Dusseldorf, as this airline isn't too expensive to fly there out of Kennedy or Miami too. They also fly from LAX.

They are advertising a $594 roundtrip fare from NYC/JFK, and they offer inexpensive flights all over Europe too.
