Yeah, I think I was about 8 at the time. And not real bright.

Yes, I'd love to hear about the paper atom bomb.

Me and my friend Steve thought this one up.

The Paper Atom Bomb;

1) Prepare a regular campfire with logs stacked in a pyramid. Leave access to the center.

2) Take a 1 gallon paintcan and fill it 2/3 full with gasoline. Hammer the lid on tight. Place it Upside Down in the center of the campfire pyramid.

3) Take about 1 pickup truck of old magazines and newspapers from the local library's discard pile and run them through a bandsaw, cutting them into strips and pieces. Pile all on top of the campfire pyramid.

4) Light the campfire from the bottom center and stand back. In my experiment, about 30 minutes after ignition it exploded, making a perfect mushroom cloud of fire and smoke, and rained burning paper shreds over about an acre and a half. It was really cool!

Viola! The Paper Atom Bomb! I hope I get to do that again one more time before I die.

if you take apart one of those cylinder bicycle pumps, drill a small hole at the closed end and put a firecracker in that end with a marble in the open end - it makes a pretty fair cannon for your games with your army men.
